SB-0177 goes to the Highlands

Five hundred and fifty miles of the Highland Trail on Priti's adventure frame. What held up, what didn't, and what we'd change.

Sol Mendel

A loaded titanium adventure bike leaning on a dry-stone wall by a misty single-track road in the Scottish Highlands.

Priti lent me SB-0177 for the Highland Trail 550, on the condition I brought it back with a story. Five days, two river crossings and one broken spoke later, here it is.

What we drew it for

Long chainstays for stability with a loaded saddlebag, room for 2.4-inch tyres, and a stack high enough to stay comfortable on day five. Every one of those numbers earned its place somewhere north of Fort William.

What we’d change

One more bottle mount under the down tube. Priti agrees. Her next frame will have it, and so will yours if you ask.
